New Feature: JangoMail is now your SMTP server

After a year of intense research and development, we are proud to announce the world's first SMTP relay service built specifically for email marketers.

As you work throughout the day and send emails to people, do you ever wonder if they opened that email, clicked on a URL you gave them, or even from where on the planet they opened/clicked? You can now send all of your person-to-person and transactional emails through the JangoMail SMTP relay at relay.jangosmtp.net. Use it with your web site, and use it with your desktop email program like Outlook, Thunderbird, or Lotus Notes.  Just perform a few simple setup steps, and then set your email program's outbound SMTP server to relay.jangosmtp.net.

Overview:

The benefits of relaying your individual email messages through relay.jangosmtp.net instead of your corporate email server or your ISP email server are:

  • Open Tracking
  • Click Tracking
  • Opportunity to send through IPs whitelisted in the Sender Score Certified program
  • Access to SMTP logs to verify delivery
  • DomainKeys/DKIM signing
  • Automatic plain text and HTML message generation
  • Grouping of different types of emails into different categories for ease of reporting

Instructions:

A detailed guide to the JangoSMTP relay is available, but here are some easy-to-follow instructions:

1. Login to your account and go to My Options and Settings --> SMTP Relay.

2. Review the settings and setup an authentication scheme, either by IP Address or by From Address.

3. If you choose to authenticate by From Address, then your email system will have to authenticate into the SMTP relay service with your JangoMail account username/password. Additionally, all of your emails must come from the From Address(es) that you specify under My Options and Settings --> SMTP Relay --> From Addresses.

4. After you've setup your authentication and tracking preferences, start relaying your email through relay.jangosmtp.net. You can connect on port 25 or port 2525.

5. All Reporting is in real-time under Reporting --> Transactional Emails.

Email Marketing Features Present in this Announcement:

In an effort to better educate our readers about JangoMail's capabilities, whenever I send out an email announcement like this, I'm going to include a list of features present in that actual email message.  This email announcement:

  • Will have all replies to your feedback sent via the JangoSMTP relay. Meaning, if you reply to this email with a question, the response from my staff member will be sent with Outlook Express using the JangoSMTP relay. In fact, any notification you get from JangoMail or any staff member in the future will be sent via JangoSMTP.
  • Is signed with DomainKeys and DKIM.
  • Uses dynamic conditional logic to generate the greeting at the top, based on whether you're a past client, current client, or potential client.
  • Is open-tracked and click-tracked.
  • Was sent to recipients using real-time database connectivity to the company's SQL Server.
  • Includes a plain-text version that was intelligently generated by JangoMail from the HTML message.

Feedback?

The launch of this feature is a groundbreaking moment in our company's history.  We've always been creative, inventive, and on the forefront of email marketing product innovation, but with our SMTP service, we're raising the bar higher than ever before. But enough of my thoughts - let me know what you think!
