Press Release: JangoMail Introduces Block-Resistant Embedded Images For Immediate Release: New Feature Prevents ISPs From Automatically Blocking Graphics in HTML Emails Dayton, OH (February 17, 2009) – JangoMail, an industry leader in permission-based email marketing, today announced the introduction of a new feature that allows users to bypass much of the automatic blocking of embedded images in most HTML emails, thereby ensuring that logos and other branding elements in an electronic communication are instantly viewable by recipients. "For several years now, the automatic blocking of images in HTML emails has been a real thorn in the side of e-marketers,” explains JangoMail’s President, Ajay Goel. “A company puts together an eye-grabbing, visually alluring communication, only to find out that its message has been reduced to a series of white boxes with annoying red x placeholders on the receiving end. Unless the recipient clicks on a link that opens up the blocked images, it’s unlikely they’ll pay much attention to the communication or take the action intended by the email’s designers.” To remedy this, JangoMail now offers users the option of automatically converting image references in HTML emails into encoded embedded images that magically bypass the image disabling capabilities of desktop email programs such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and Thunderbird, as well as many Web-based email programs like Gmail. “The advantages of using embedded images are pretty obvious,” Goel noted. “Better image delivery means increased brand recognition and demonstrably higher response rates. In today’s chilly economic climate, those are huge plusses.” Despite their many advantages, embedded images also come with a few noteworthy caveats, including increased email size and additional bandwidth fees. In addition, circumventing the automatic blocking of HTML images can also play havoc with open-tracking numbers; since open tracking is often contingent upon a unique image being downloaded by the recipient’s email program, using the new feature can skew open tracking data. For email marketers eager to ensure that their logos and product images are automatically viewed by most recipients—even when the receiving computer is offline or the images have been removed from the server—the minor drawbacks associated with embedded images are easily outweighed by their advantages. “To my knowledge, very few of our competitors currently offer this option,” Goel said. “We’re thrilled to be on the cutting edge of email image delivery, and to offer JangoMail users a real leg up on what has become an intensely competitive playing field.” About JangoMail Used by over 1,800 organizations on six continents for a wide range of marketing and sales purposes, JangoMail facilitates the delivery and tracking of personalized, targeted emails, customer loyalty programs, newsletters, product announcements, and other sales and promotional communications.
