JangoMail Rolls Out New Features: Salesforce Enhancements, Multiple Logins, Calendar Controls, and More

We've been busy so far in 2008, rolling out several new features and enhancements. In case you've lost track and missed some of our new resources, we want to bring you up to date!

1. Connect JangoMail to multiple Salesforce accounts

We have expanded our Salesforce integration so that you can now connect one JangoMail account to multiple Salesforce accounts. Now, if you have multiple Sales Agents that use their own Salesforce accounts, they can all use the same JangoMail account for sending.

This multiple connection only works one direction, however. You currently CANNOT have multiple JangoMail accounts linked to the same Salesforce account. A Salesforce account can only be linked to one JangoMail account, but a JangoMail account can be linked to multiple Salesforce accounts.

2. Create multiple logins for your JangoMail account

You can now create alternate login credentials (username and password) for your accounts. This will allow additional people access to the same account, with all logins having the same permissions as the main username/password.

You may find this useful if you have multiple people accessing the same account. With different logins assigned to each employee,if one employee leaves, that one login can simply be deleted without affecting the others using the account.

3. Use calendar and time controls to schedule your mailings

We've introduced new Calendar and Time controls to make it easier to get the format right when entering date/time information for scheduling emails to be sent in the future or on a recurring schedule. Look to the right of the scheduling fields for the new calendar and clock symbols.

4. Create a custom SMS Text message when composing

Do some of your recipients receive their emails as text messages?

Now you can be courteous and specify messages designed just for them. Design and send a specific message to an SMS address, instead of the HTML or Plain Text message types

If your recipient's address is at a domain that functions as an SMS Gateway, only the SMS message will be sent. This gives you better control over the limited number of characters allocated for texting services.

5. Add a CC Recipient to your message

The CC feature allows you to specify an address that will receive a clear (address IS visible to the email's direct recipient) copy of the message as it is sent out. It is found under Advanced Options as you compose in the Send E-mail tab.

You can specify a single address that will be copied, or you can use a personalization field to merge in an address specific to each recipient's record (cc'ing their particular sales representatives, for example).

6. Prevent duplicates from being added to a Group

We've responded to customer requests for a tool that would prevent an address that is currently a member of a Group from being added more than one time. Now, we've added a control to the Group to do just that. Use "Enable/Disable Duplicate Members"  to set your Group to check for existing addresses and prevent duplicates from being added.

7. Preprocess campaigns Now

Every JangoMail campaign starts with "pre-processing," the period where the system creates your final recipient list and assigning your campaign to our bank of senders.

If you will not be sending your campaign "Now," but at a later date, you can now elect to go ahead and let this pre-processing step take place now (at the time you click to "Send") so that there won't be any time spent waiting on pre-processing to complete when the time comes to send out the campaign itself.

8. Filter Reports by CampaignID

Speed up your time looking through Reports for one particular campaign. Use the new CampaignID filter to locate specific jobs quickly by searching for the campaign's unique numeric identifier.

9. Use personalization in BCC

JangoMail's BCC feature has allowed users to receive archive copies of their personalized messages (1 message to each recipient, and 1 copy of each recipient's personalized message to the BCC address). Now,  you can place a personalization field in for the BCC address so that the copy can be sent to an address specific to each recipient (a sales rep, for example).

10. New API Methods and Enhancements

We're always working hard to make sure the API keeps up with the web interface. If you communicate with your JangoMail account programmatically, we've had some new methods and enhancements as well. Among these are:

  • Reports_GetComplaintsByCampaign - This method will retrieve complaint statistics for any outgoing email campaign.
  • GetMassEmailStatus - This method will check on the present status (preprocessing, sending, complete) of your campaigns.
  • Enhancements to the "Send..." methods - The SendMassEmail methods will now validate any messages set to send with attachments to make sure the attachment has been properly uploaded. If no attachment is present, the methods will return an exception.
  • Enhancements to the GroupMember methods - The GroupMember methods have been modified to consider the new ability to prevent duplicates from being added to a Group. The methods will throw exceptions if they would result in duplicate entries (by email address) within a Group set to permit no duplicates.
